IPLAN Access is a system integrator and an infrastructure planning company that was born in 2004 out of the region's need for Broadband Access, typically known as the 4th Utility. The founder John Culbertson, co-founded a Fiber Optic Broadband company, Open Access in order to meet this need. The backbone, transmission, and distribution portion of the network was built on the local power companies' facilities and used its rights of way to connect buildings served by the power company to the public switched telephone network as well as the Internet.

About
IPLAN Access is a system integrator and an infrastructure planning company that was born in 2004 out of the region's need for Broadband Access, typically known as the 4th Utility. The founder John Culbertson, co-founded a Fiber Optic Broadband company, Open Access in order to meet this need. The backbone, transmission and distribution portion of the network was built on the local power companies facilities and used its rights of way to connect buildings served by the power company to the public switched telephone network as well as the Internet.
This “Distributed Network” was able to connect hundreds of Class A Office Buildings, Colleges, Laboratories, Universities, enterprise customers and dozens of School Districts to its Broadband Network. Each and every building on the 4th Utility, now qualified as a “Smart Building” since it had access to unlimited Bandwidth and the then emerging “Cloud Services”.

IPLAN Access continued the enhancement of “Smart Buildings” by utilizing fiber optics delivery directly to the desktop utilizing Passive Optical LAN (POL) technology for its customers. By doing so, we are able to eliminate many of the electrical needs that are inherent in the existing electronic delivery systems (telco rooms, HVAC Systems, UPS, Work Group switches). POL eliminates the need for long copper cable runs while at the same time future proofing the mid span delivery system by delivering single mode fiber optic cables. POL then became the center for all building controls, surveillance, card readers, sensors, WiFi and all other internet of things communications.

IPLAN Access and the companies we represent believe that communications information technology is evolving into a pure wireless mobile phase. With the near ubiquitous use of cellular 4GLTE devices along with the coming 5G networks the workplace has the critical need for always available wireless carrier signals.
IPLAN Access along with our partners are building indoor distributed antenna systems (DAS) to increase cellular capacity and coverage throughout the enterprise. In addition to the carrier network signals we are also working on Private LTE (PLTE) networks that are now evolving. One of the more exciting new technologies for PLTE stems around Citizens Broadband Radio Systems (CBRS). We are actively working on these and other new technologies as they quickly become available.
